Sometimes the path we travel on is clear and straightforward – other times it’s winding and uncertain. On “The Path,” the lead single from his upcoming EP, the poet, MC FÜBB expresses the sense of purpose and hope that keeps him focused on his goals despite the unclear road that lies before him. Produced using samples from Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” Toronto-based producer Junia-T (Smash Brovaz) creates a sonically enveloping landscape for FÜBB’s poetic lyrics to shine on. Accompanied by the soulful vocals of Mike Devine, “The Path” is an honest, heart-felt, and ultimately triumphant look into the mind of an artist as he reconciles his life as a hip hop MC who’s committed to walking “the path of a poet.”

The Daylight/Nightlight EP’s
The timeless battle between good and evil is a story that has been told countless times and evoked through song since the beginning of recorded music. But the story rarely takes place within the realm of one man’s mind, and when it is, the line is drawn in an exaggerated way, resulting in unrealistic and unrelated characters.
Doxside Music Group producer IMAKEMADBEATS has broken the mold with his conceptual dual-EP project, Daylight/Nightlight. Featuring emcees Butta Verses and MidaZ the Beast respectively, the two pieces wholly represent the goodness of humanity and the darkest corners of man’s soul.
Daylight finds Butta Verses (best known for his collaborative work with hip hop legends De La Soul) introspectively addressing the positive changes he knows he must make in his life, all while backed by IMAKEMADBEATS‘ emotionally charged and soulful production.
Nightlight flips the direction of its companion piece, and allows Doxside Music Group rapper MidaZ the Beast to do what he does best – slay hard-hitting tracks with a ferocity that has earned him a reputation amongst hip hop’s lyrical elite. From alcoholism to themes of betrayal to hurling threats towards faulty show promoters,Nightlight is a visceral assault on listeners’ eardrums that still maintains a thump sure to maintain head nods and neck snaps.
Previously released in an edited form to rave reviews amongst bloggers and online publications, Doxside Music Group is proud to release the complete version of Daylight/Nightlight, with previously unreleased tracks and inspiring album artwork by Florida visual artist Jon Didier. For listeners seeking substance in the soundtrack of their lives, IMAKEMADBEATS‘ Daylight/Nightlight is a breath of fresh air that demands to be heard.

Blending dirty soul-driven production with razor-sharp lyrics, royceBIRTH and FenaxiZ comprise the rap duo Chain City. For several years, these two have been contributing their own distinct brand of beats, rhymes, and life to Toronto’s underground Hip-Hop scene, but as individual artists with their own respective solo careers.
royceBIRTH would make a name for himself providing hard-hitting gritty soundscapes for several of the city’s top-notch rhymers while FenaxiZ became known amongst rap connoisseurs for authoring introspective, intricate, and poetic verses. Friends since their high school years, Royce Birth and FenaxiZ would often collaborate on eachother’s projects so it was only natural that they would eventually get together for a Chain City EP.
When asked about the group name, FenaxiZ explains, “It’s often said that a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link, so we keep that saying in mind when we work. It pushes each of us to come as hard as we possibly can and give it our best.” Royce adds, “We also realized that everyone in the industry is connected to eachother. If you’ve heard about the 6-degrees of separation rule, that number becomes even smaller when applied to the Canadian Hip-Hop industry so we want everyone involved in this scene to recognize that fact and work together towards putting our art out there as a whole.“
The Chain City EP is set to drop this year and will feature the single “Ah Yeah” as well as “Substance (feat. MC FÜBB)” and “Born & Raised.” And if this project isn’t enough to satisfy the heads out there, 2012 will also see the release of Royce Birth’s “Cassette” and FenaxiZ’ “Vintage” solo albums
